King David has always been my favourite character in the Bible. He is such a tragedy and a great example of God’s love to us blundering humans. What fascinates me is that it is mentioned severally that he is a man after God’s own Heart.
I am doing a study on Facing Your Giants: The God Who Made a Miracle Out of David Stands Ready to Make One Out of You – Max Lucado with my prayer partners and one of the passages we had to read this week was 1 Samuel 16.
And out popped my definition of a great man. (Verse 12 and 18 below from different Bible versions)
Ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. A skillful musician, a mighty man of valor, a warrior, one prudent in speech, and a handsome man.
A man who was not only a talented harp player, but was handsome, brave, and strong, and had good, solid judgment.
One of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is a good musician. He’s a strong man and heroic, a warrior who speaks well and is good-looking too. The Lord is with him.
There has always been the talk of women of Proverbs 31 but I hadn’t yet encountered a description of a man that women can say, “OH YEAH!!” to as loud as dudes say “OH YEAH” to the woman of Proverbs 31.
