Living in Athi River vs Naivasha & Working in Nairobi

Standard

So, if I lived in Athi River and worked in Nairobi town, I might want to think about relocating to Naivasha.

Hipilicious had to make numerous trips to Naivasha this week and we both came to the realization some of us are getting a super raw deal.

First of all, the cost of living in Naivasha is cheaper – I don’t have data to back up my statement but vegetables / groceries / utilities / public amenities are much cheaper in Naivasha than in Nairobi/Athi River.

Then, there are all the parks/lakes/hiking trails/hills that are a stone throw away from Naivasha town. So weekend activities are sorted.

There are also large supermarkets and with Buffalo Mall open then one can also get their retail fix in Naivasha.

For me, the biggest win is the time that it takes to drive between Naivasha and Nairobi. One and a half hours. While for someone coming in from Athi River, that is half the journey to Nairobi. Let’s put this in perspective. Nairobi to Athiriver = 30 kilometers. Nairobi to Naivasha = 91 kilometers. With all the saving one makes in other areas, topping up for extra fuel doesn’t seem like such a bad idea.
